I recently bought an amazon echo dot, second generation. While the built in speaker is good for asking Alexsa questions, getting the forecast, setting alarms, etc, it isn't good for listening to music, unless I'm right next to the echo dot. What Bluetooth speakers would you suggest I purchease to go with the echo dot? I'm looking for something that has good sound and if possible, is under $100. Battery life isn't much of an issue right now, because I'll probably be using the speaker plugged in most of the time, if you can do that without damaging the battery.
You'd be better off with a pair or normal corded speakers for the dot, Bluetooth would limit your choices and cost a bit.
I did look in to a pair of external speakers that could be plugged in to the dot, however, I have a cat who loves to chew on thi wires, so any external speakers wouldn't last long. Also, I don't have much in the way of space, which is why I think a Bluetooth speaker would be better.
I suppose any would do. It depends on what quality you'd like however.
I find, and this is personal, anything under 100 just isn't music quality for me.
Sure, they play, but I'm picky.
As for the cat, just get some wire protectors, or roll them up and tie them so the cat can't get to them laying out.
I would think it has been smart enough not to chew electrical because it lives so it won't chew speaker wire I'll bet either.
This one is interesting.
It is JBL flip4.
JBL makes quality products and it is a bit under $100.
Read about it here.
This is Amazon, but not a link. You'll need to copy it, or just search for it.

I've purcheased the anchor sound chord Bluetooth speaker from amazon, as well as a cable that can hook in to my echo dot. In order to charge it while using it, I'm thinking of using an IPhone wall charger. The speaker comes with a micro USB cable. If I charge the speaker using an IPhone wall charger, the little one that feels like a block, will it damage the charger, the speaker, or its cable?
Nope. It is just a plug.
No harm.
ah, Wayne has already suggest JBL. it is fairly good for the price. and it is also a good-ish brand, for the price. another brand might want to consider is Mifa. It is great for what you want, and you can get a decent speaker for about $50 or such. but again, as Wayne has worn, all this speaker is only good if you aren't picky with your music. for me, anything below $100 or even $150 just don't cut it anymore.
I really hate to say this, given it's relatively poor accessibility, but the Bose SoundTouch 10 is actually not a bad idea for Echo Dot use, because when it recognizes it's connected to the Echo Dot, it will not turn off. Of course, it needs power, but I like the idea of a speaker that doesn't turn off when connected to an always-on device like the Dot. It is the only purpose I use mine for.
For anybody else looking for a Bluetooth speaker for an echo or any other device, I'd suggest the anchor sound chord. This speaker is small, easy to use, gets 24 hours of playtime, and has a Bluetooth range of 60 feet. In my case, my speaker has gotten over 34 hours of use because I only use it for music.
Yeah, JBL probably has the best sound I've found. the BOSe muddles it a bit, it
has a weird modulation. I have a few of those. I have the charge 3 and that's a
great one.
